I’m never very good at birthdays & this is evident now as I forgot to post about two books that were released yesterday; The Shadow Warrior by Tanya Lloyd Kyi (Illustrated by Celia Krampien) & To Look A Nazi in the Eye by Kathy Kacer & Jordana Lebowitz. These are both books that I’ve read & enjoyed, & both have affected me in very different ways.
This post was inspired by a conversation I saw on Twitter where Gwen C. Katz was thanking the lovely Krysti over at YAandWine.com for hosting a giveaway for her upcoming book Among The Red Stars…
What Krysti said about the world needing Among The Red Stars right now & what Gwen said in response made me think about how important books about the Second World War are right now, so I decided to throw together a list of books that illustrate how horrific those times were. This post includes some of my own recommendations, as well as some from some of my Twitter followers & three upcoming titles that I’m really looking forward to.
This book is based on a true story but is told from a third-person perspective & Kathy Kacer has written the tale with so much emotion & care. Jordana went to so much effort to make sure that she would be able to tell this story to the world & I for one am very grateful that she did. To Look A Nazi in the Eye isn’t an easy read, but it is an important & interesting one that will stay with me forever. I want to recommend this book to every single person on this planet, because history like this should not, & cannot be allowed to be forgotten.
I was sent an eARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Warning: This book contains discussion of anti-semitic views & the horrific tales of went on in the concentration camps during World War 2.
