April was a strange month – in some ways it feels like it flew by, but in other ways it feels like it took 6 months to pass; alas, if it had lasted 6 months I may have read more books than I did. April was generally a good month for me, although I don’t remember a lot of what happened… how odd.
In April I only managed to read 5 books, which sucks somewhat, but I did read two rather long books so lets just blame it on those!
Reading 5 books in April got me to 35% of the way through my challenge – i.e. 28/80 books! I’m so close to having only 50 books left to read, which is amazing because I read 100 books in 2017; I’m feeling quite confident that I’ll reach my goal this year.
Beat the Backlist:
In April I decided to read The Girl Who Walked on Air by Emma Carroll from my BTB reading list; I knew I was going to enjoy this book because Emma is a great writer & I love books with circuses so I’m super happy I picked it up. You can see the rest of my BTB list here.
My Doctor Who Challenge:
Well. I am super mad at myself; it’s only as I’ve come to write this post that I’ve realised I didn’t pick up a Doctor Who novel in April! Which is so frustrating as I’ve done really well with this challenge so far this year. I must make sure I pick up one during May!
During April I didn’t request any NetGalley ARCs, which I’m so proud of myself for because I seriously need to cut down on them!

My health during April was fairly good… up until a child fell onto my back at work, ha. It was an accident & the child was only 4-years-old but it definitely did me some damage; I even agreed to go home early from work because of it, which is something I haven’t allowed to happen so far at my new job. I also forgot about my follow up appointment for my bladder procedure that I had done in March – I had the follow up appointment brought forward as I’m still having pains in my bladder & difficulty urinating at times, so I’m really annoyed at myself that I forgot to go; especially considering that I was approved for the time off of work. Sigh. Other than that though, things are all good!
There isn’t much for me to put in this section this month; my time has been spent working or relaxing with Sam so I’ve not got up to much… the only thing I will mention is that since I’ve started working my mum & I are a lot less stressed about money, which feels amazing. I also may have found the course I’d like to do for my masters degree, but I’ll speak more about that at a later date, if I do indeed decide to apply for it.
