A while ago I saw Lauren from TheBookishFairy do a post on the book series she’s started but hasn’t finished yet & I decided to do it as a tag & name her as the creator (although she got the idea from some booktubers)! You can see Lauren’s post on the series she hasn’t finished here!
1. The Plantagenet & Tudor Novels Series by Phillipa Gregory
The first series I have started but haven’t finished is a historical fiction one that I absolutely adore! Thankfully, these books don’t necessarily need to be read in any specific order (depending on your knowledge of English history) so I can pick up any of these books whenever I feel like it… the reason I haven’t done this for a while though, is because they can be quite long so it can take aaaages to finish them whilst I’m working. Once I’ve finished the Outlander books I may pick up the rest of this series though; which I’ll only read on Mondays!
2. The Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris
I originally picked up this series from the library because I was a huge fan of the television adaptation (True Blood), but unfortunately I read books 1 & 2, Dead Until Dark & Living in Dead Dallas, & then gave up on the series 👎 The writing felt really underdeveloped & came across quite amateurish… plus, even in the first two books there are a lot of differences between the books & show, which I really struggled to get my head around. Unfortunately, this series will remain unfinished.

3. The Waterfire Saga by Jennifer Donnelly
I love this series so much, & the only reason I’m yet to read the last book is because a lot happened in the first three & I really think I need to find a recap or summary of the series before I start the final book! I don’t want any forgotten details to ruin the experience for me, so if anyone knows where I can find a summary of books 1, 2 & 3 then please let me know! (also, I’m a little confused about why book four’s cover looks different from the others 😟)
4. The Sin Eater’s Daughter trilogy by Melinda Salisbury
Okay, people are going to come after me with pitchforks for this but I have a good reason! As with The Waterfire Saga, when the final book in this series fell through my letterbox I felt like I couldn’t remember enough of the series to pick the finale up straight away… although I’m just looking for a recap of The Watersaga, I’d like to reread the first two books in this series & then read the third one straight after. I will get around to doing this soon!
– Side Note: I’ve only read one of the novellas so I need to rectify this too!
5. The Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard
This is another one that some people will hate me for, but in this case I have no excuses for you, just honesty! This series is okay, but I really don’t understand the hype around it & to be honest, the hype is putting me off of continuing with it. I own Cruel Crown (two novellas), Red Queen, Glass Sword & King’s Cage & I’ve read all of these apart from King’s Cage… I may or may not finish this series one day.
6. The Shogun Quartet by Lesley Downer
This is another historical fiction series that I absolutely adore, but haven’t finished yet because of time, or a lack of it. I read the first book, The Shogun’s Queen, last year & was so happy to finally get my hands on it! I think this will be another series that I read only on Mondays because of the length of the books, but I will 100% finish this eventually.
7. S.C.R.E.A.M by Andrew Beasley
I love this series & was sent the second book by the publisher after it’s release due to my interest in the disabled character within the stories; the representation is brilliant & I can’t wait to pick up the second book! The only reason I didn’t pick it up straight after reading the first book is because I wanted to leave some time between reviews for each book. I’m not sure yet if there will be a third book, but I hope there will be because this is such an important series due to the representation it includes.
~
So, I have 7 unfinished series; 5 which I’m definitely going to finish, one I definitely won’t be finishing & one that I haven’t made my mind up about yet! Have you read any of the books shown in this post? Let me know what you think of them!
If you fancy doing this post yourself please do tag me so I can see your answers.
I am ashamed to say I too am behind with TSED series. Ooops!
I’ve started to not start a series if it has a ton of books now, I just can’t commit and I’m too much of a mood reader to see it through.
Trilogies are still on the table though.

I read The Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris because I loved the show but it was bad. I liked a couple of the books but it felt like her plots where all over the place and the characters did thing that made no sense at all. Trust me you didn’t miss anything reading the whole series.
I have also read Red Queen which I enjoyed a lot but Glass Sword was just horrible. It mainly consisted of Mare whining and complaining all the time. I got confused with the traveling aspect because it kept naming place and I got lost in trying to figure out where the heck they were. I need a map bad.
Great post and list 🙂

I am actually kind of in a slump when it comes to the Plantagenet and Tudor series as well. 🤔 I have 3 books that I still need to read and at least 4 books that I still need to buy.😂

I go through stages of reading hardcore historical fiction so I totally get what you mean! But, it’s nice to have a follower that reads them!!! Which is your favourite?
