Sum-Up SundaysNovember

This is the second time I’ve done a Sum-Up Sunday post; for anyone who didn’t see last month’s post, this series is posted on the first Sunday of every month & covers whatever month has just ended. In the posts I talk about the books I’ve read over the last month, what’s gone on in my health & a few bits about the rest of my life.

In November I read books, this is the higher end of my usual monthly reading habits & I’m quite impressed that I managed to hit this number, even despite starting a new job! I actually read some great books this month & I don’t regret any of the books I picked up.

My health hasn’t been too bad this month! My shoulders have been burning a lot the past week as I’ve started working & my interstitial cystitis has started playing up again so I have a horrible feeling I might have to have another procedure done on my bladder soon (which sucks)… but, I did have my kidney scanned this week &, although I haven’t seen my specialist for the actual results, the doctor who did my scan said that the part of my abscess that was left behind from three years ago has finally gone! This means that my chances of getting really sick with a kidney infection again have dropped significantly, which is fantastic.

I also had my pre-op appointment for my next round of spinal injections this week, but I still don’t have a date for the actual procedure, which is kind of annoying because I need to let work know asap. At this rate it’ll probably be after Christmas. SIGH. I’ve had facet joint injections done before, & the last time they didn’t help & I just ended up unable to do anything for two weeks… obviously I’m hoping that doesn’t happen this time. My specialist has suggested injecting my joints directly, instead of injecting around the joints, so the procedure will be a little different this time around. We’re hoping that the injections will result in my lower back being totally numbed & if they’re successful we’re going to attempt to do the same to my shoulders & neck.

Things in the rest of my life have been a little manic; the month started with me having interviews for a job in a children’s home, something I was really excited about, but the month has ended with me getting a totally different type of job. I had two interviews for the children’s home but ended up not having the final interview because the directors of the home decided that my health meant I was too much of a risk to hire. I understood their reasoning, but obviously it really sucked that I was stopped from getting a job I really wanted by my health.

Anyway, I started a new job this week & wow, I have never been so tired in all of my damn life. I’m working as a passenger assistant with children with disabilities/learning issues & the elderly – so far I’m enjoying it, but my hours are a little random & my shoulders are burning 99% of the time, which I hate. I’m going to try my best to stick at the job though, because when I’m on a proper timetable, I’ll be earning enough money to really make a difference to my mum & I’s standard of living.
