1. Have you ever re-gifted a book that you’ve been gifted?
Absolutely no way. It’s very unlikely that anyone in my life would buy me a random book so the chances are I’m never going to be given a book that I don’t like; if I were given a book that I already own I would either do a giveaway on Twitter or would see if I could return the present & swap it for another book!
2. Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t?
This is definitely something I’m guilty of. When I was in secondary school I wasn’t much of a reader but a lot of the girls in my class were freaking out over the Twilight series; books & films. I had seen the first Twilight film & just didn’t understand the hype, so people kept telling me to read the books because they’re apparently soooo much better. In the end I decided to tell everyone I had read the first two books & didn’t like them – to this day I still haven’t read them & I never plan to.
3. Have you ever borrowed a book & not returned it?
Nope! I have returned books to the library late, but I’ve never not returned one & I don’t think I’ve ever borrowed a book off of another person…
4. Have you ever read a series out of order?
Not initially no, but there has been times where I’ve picked up a random book in the House of Night series & read it; this is because I know the story incredibly well though so I don’t need to always read from the beginning. Plus, so much happens over the 12 books that sometimes I can only be bothered with some of the events in the series!
5. Have you ever spoiled a book for someone?
I don’t think so??? I try to always put warnings for spoilers on my reviews so hopefully I haven’t… if I have though, I am so sorry!
6. Have you ever doggy eared a book?
Yep, yep & yep. At the moment I’m going through a bookmark phase, but when I first really got into reading I always dog-eared because I didn’t really have any proper bookmarks. I’ve also dog-earned my textbooks from uni but that doesn’t really count in my opinion.
7. Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do?
I’m fairly certain I’ve never done this; the people around me know I don’t lend out my books so there’s no reason for me to lie about owning something.
8. Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book?
This is something I have definitely done – battle scenes can often bore me, especially the ones in the A Song of Ice & Fire books… some of them just went on forever & I really didn’t care about all the battle tactics being used. I also sometimes skim over conversations in books & I’ve also skimmed when something really dramatic is happening & I’ve just wanted to know what the heck is going to happen next!!!! I’ll also sometimes skip lines or paragraphs when I’m re-reading a series.
9. Have you ever bad mouthed a book you actually liked?
I’ve never denied enjoying a book that I have enjoyed, but I try to be as honest as I can be about problematic content, even in my favourite books. For example, The House of Night books were my life for a long time & I still love them now – but, I know that they are incredibly problematic in places & that the writing is a bit crap to start with.
