I’ve chosen to take part in The Rapid Fire Book Tag after seeing Dora over on BerriesAndBooks answer the questions!
1. E-Book or Physical Book?
I will always choose to own a physical copy of a book over an ebook, as I prefer holding & reading a book rather than my kindle; but ebooks can be wonderful because they allow me to have more access to ARCs & my kindle is great for hospital stays.
2. Paperback or Hardback?
Ahhh, this is a difficult one! I love hardbacks because they can be super beautiful, but I thoroughly disagree with hardbacks being released before paperbacks because they’re more expensive & this alienates poorer readers. If I had to choose for all of my books to be either hardback or paperback though, I would choose paperback because of the price thing, but also because they’re easier to carry & I find them easier to read!
3. Online or In-Store Book Shopping?
I would love to be able to go shopping in bookstores more often than I currently do but because of my illnesses it’s generally easier for me to order online!
4. Trilogies or Series?
Hmm… well I really love a duo-logy, but trilogies can obviously be wonderful too! I don’t mind series being made up of more than 3 books, as long as the story isn’t getting boring… generally I think 3 is a good & safe number.
5. Heroes or Villains?
I must admit that I do find myself very interested in villains, especially when they’re well developed.
6. A Book I Want Everyone to Read…
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, just one?! Well, I’ll go with a book that changed my life: In Order To Live by Yeonmi Park!
7. Recommend An Underrated Book…
Shadows on The Moon by Zoë Marriott!
8. The Last Book I Finished…
When writing this, Zara Zyon & A Maelstrom of Secrets by Melissa Ann Peters!
9. The Last Book I Bought…
The last ebook I bought was The Aquariums of Pyongyang: Ten Years in the North Korean Gulag by Kang Chol-Hwan & the last print book I bought was February Flowers by Fan Wu!
10. Weirdest Thing I’ve Used As A Book Mark…
Probably a sweet wrapper.
11. Used Books – Yes or No?
Yes, yes, yes! I miss shopping in charity shops so much & I often used to buy second-hand books online too (I say used to because I’m on a major & very strict buying ban).
12. Top Three Favourite Genres?
- Fantasy
- Historical Fiction
- Science Fiction
13. Borrow or buy?
If I had unlimited funds I would always buy, but I’ve used my library quite a lot this year! I don’t borrow from people though.
14. Characters or Plot?
World-building!
15. Long or Short Books?
I don’t mind short books & long books can be brilliant, but I prefer books that are a little in the middle.
16. Long or Short Chapters?
Shorter, rather than longer.
17. The First Three Books I Can Think Of…
18. Books That Made You Laugh Or Cry?
The last book to really make me laugh was I Believe In A Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo & the last book that made me cry was These Violent Delights by Victoria Namkung.
19. Our World or Fictional Worlds?
Fictional! Obviously. But I also love fantasy twists on our world.
20. Audiobooks – Yes or No?
Yes & no… I only listen to audiobooks of books I’ve already read & I go through phases of not being able to survive without them & not using them at all.
21. Ever Judged A Book By Its Cover?
Every time.
22. Book to Movie or Book to Television Adaptations?
I prefer to watch TV shows to movies so probably TV adaptations.
23. A Movie or TV Show I Preferred to its Book…
True Blood… I read two of the books & hated them.
24. Series or Standalone?
I love both but I think I prefer standalone books at the moment.
Are you reading this? Then I nominate you to be the next person to do this tag!
I prefer a physical hardcover too so I can hold it and smell it. I like the villains of the story more as well. I always end up rooting for them during a real good book. I love all your wonderful answers.

I’m not sure if I root for the villains but I always want to know more about them! Sometimes their back stories can be a bit disappointing though, or offensive to people from certain backgrounds, if you get what I mean!

I prefer a medium length too (generally 350ish is the sweet spot), and I definetely judge covers! I’m not really into duologies though; I prefer a straight standalone or a few books to really fall in love with characters. Re: last sentence, I’ve already done this tag 💜

350 is actually a pretty perfect amount! And I’m awful at judging covers 😂 There are definitely some duologies that I wish were longer but there’s also longer series that I wish were shorter so 😂 I’m a big fan of short novellas or companion novels x
