In Order To Live: A North Korean Girl’s Journey to Freedom by Yeonmi Park

In Order to LiveI never feel it’s right to review biography-type books but I just wanted to say that this book has moved me more than I can put into words. I knew North Korea was a living hell, but I didn’t realise the true extent of the hell North Koreans have to live through. Yeonmi has written this book with such elegance it’s so difficult to believe that just a few years ago she had the education of someone less than half her age. I’m desperate to know more about Yeonmi and her work, and I plan to read more about the lives of the people in North Korea. I read this book on my Kindle but there’s no doubt in my mind that I will soon purchase a physical copy.

Yeonmi, if you ever read this please know that you have moved me and educated me more than I can tell you. The bravery you have shown, and are showing, in your life is more than I can even fathom. I hope you are happy and healthy, and continue to live a free life for many years to come.
